Betcha thought we forgot about NSTIC . . . you know, that identity initiative? The one you never hear about anymore? Well, it’s still chugging along, a few pilot programs are in the works, and according to FierceGovernmentIT’s Molly Bernhart Walker, NIST requested $24.5 million for NSTIC in its budget request, “an $8 million increase from fiscal 2013 CR-level funding, according to the budget in brief.”
Rather unremarkable news, but reading Toomas Hendrik Ilves’ (the President of Estonia) thoughts on identity verification as a main component in cybersecurity got me all jazzed up on NSTIC again.
