- More Fingerprints Stolen In OPM Breach (Dow Jones Newswire): The Office of Personnel Management (“OPM”) recently announced that the hackers who breached their system stole 5.6 million fingerprint records, according to the Dow Jones Newswire. Previously, OPM estimated that 1.1 million people had their fingerprints stolen, the newswire reported. The article reported that according to a spokesperson for OPM the “ability to misuse fingerprint data is limited,” however, this ability may change with technological advances. - ISIL Threatens to Conduct Cyber Attack Against The UK (SC Magazine): ISIL released an online video where it threatened to conduct a cyber attack against the UK, according to SC Magazine. The video was found SITE Intel Group, an organization that monitors Jihadist social media, SC Magazine reports. - Chinese President Stresses Cooperation Between China And US (Chicago Tribune): Chinese President Xi Jinping announced China’s willingness to enter into dialogue with the US to discuss cybersecurity, according to the Chicago Tribune. President Xi also spoke of his own country being a victim of cyber attacks, the newspaper reported.
