Geoff Dyer reported this interesting tidbit for The Financial Times:
US lawmakers are preparing legislation which would create new punishments for companies from China and elsewhere that use trade secrets stolen by online hackers. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House intelligence committee, said that the bill would be introduced next month and would likely include visa restrictions for entities using hacked intellectual property.

The measure would be targeted at countries that give the stolen intellectual property to companies that are based within their borders or are subsidized by the government.

The proposal boasts support from both a Republican and Democratic lawmaker in the House, as well as a GOP member in the Senate.
