David Smith wrote for DefenseNews, explaining that Chinese cyberexploitation poses three related challenges:
- “General industrial espionage . . . debilitates our economy. . . .”
- “[P]lundering U.S. defense technology is a direct threat, tantamount to U.S. taxpayers underwriting the PLA’s [R/D] budget such that we and our allies might someday face our own military technology in the field.”
- According to President Obama, our enemies are “seeking the ability to sabotage our power grid, our financial institutions and our air traffic control systems.”
Smith goes on to say that China will simply stonewall on U.S. complaints without stronger action.
