Unfortunately, neither Mitt Romney nor Barack Obama paid much attention to cybersecurity during last night’s presidential debates.
Fahmida Y. Rashid wrote for PCMag and questioned why cybersecurity was virtually ignored in light of SecDef Panetta’s recent comments. Generally, when the SecDef says we’re facing a Pearl Harbor like event, you would think the candidates would give the topic its due. However, both candidiates gave it passing mention. Obama said that cybersecurity needs to be a top priority for the U.S. military. Romney mentioned China’s hacking and IP theft efforts. That’s it.
