On 5/28, Kim Zetter wrote for Wired and introduced us to the newest piece of sophisticated malware: Flame. According to the article, Flame is a "massive, highly sophisticated piece of malware" that functions as a cyber espionage tool. Kaspersky Lab discovered Flame trolling around in Iran, Lebanon, the Israeli occupied territories, Sudan, and Syria. Oh, and Flame's complexity indicates that it has nation-state backing.
The article noted that Flame doesn't resemble Stuxnet in either design of functionality. Nevertheless, this Reuters article (via the New York Times) suggests that Flame was "built on behalf of the same nation or nations that commissioned the Stuxnet worm . . . ."
