Going back to the recently released British cybersecurity strategy, I really love the idea of this "hub." Again, the hub is basically an information-sharing initiative between the British government and British companies.
Stuart Sumner wrote for computing.co.uk on what this hub will entail. The article quoted a British cyber expert who said that the hub will have 24 heads of major enterprises share sensitive information with each other. The expert added that "organisations will need to share information with their competitors in the interests of protecting the ecosystem against cyber criminals and foreign espionage." Moreover, the expert said that "It's absolutely about enterprises sharing information with their competitors. SMEs don't have the time, resources or ability to create teams to deal with the problem, so it falls on enterprises to step up to the mark."
I think that the need for a better government-private working relationship within the cyber realm is obvious. However, I'm really interested in the idea of private business sharing information with each other, and wonder if it could work in the US. Would Boeing and Lockheed Martin be able to share sensitive information in order to combat cyber threats? Apple and Microsoft? Who knows, but I love the idea.
